Overview

SoftConnection (“we”, “our”) respects your privacy. This notice explains what data we collect through softconnection.co.uk, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

  • Newsletter sign-ups — your email address, the form you used (e.g. footer, homepage band) and the date you subscribed.
  • Contact enquiries — any information you send us by email at info@softconnection.co.uk.
  • Blog comments — your name (or pseudonym), comment text and timestamp. IP addresses and user-agent are not stored.

We do not collect financial information. All purchases are processed by Amazon under their own privacy policy.

How we use your data

  • To send you the SoftConnection newsletter, if you have subscribed.
  • To reply to your enquiries.
  • To moderate blog comments.

Our legal basis for processing is your consent(newsletter, comments) or our legitimate interest(replying to enquiries you have sent us).

Where your data is stored

Subscriber data is stored encrypted on our own server in the UK/EU. If we use a third-party email service (such as Klaviyo) to send newsletters, your email address is shared with that provider for the sole purpose of delivery. We do not sell, rent or share your data with any other third parties.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Withdraw your consent at any time — every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link.
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@softconnection.co.uk.
